Our family had an opportunity to stay at the Royalton Splash over spring break and had a blast. Located in the Punta Cana area roughly a half hour from the Punta Cana airport this affordable resort delivered on fun! It ended up being one of the best vacations we have taken and is definitely on the list of places we would go back to. The property is beautiful and for active families like ours, there was never a dull moment.
I’ll start with the rooms and the dining options. There are six dining options onsite that include a Mexican, Italian, Asian, and Seafood. At one point you had to have reservations, now there are only a couple restaurants that require them. This resort caters to families and as such they have rooms that can sleep 5 (2 adults, 3 children). This is so nice as so many places only have rooms for up to 4 people. The rooms are large so you don’t really feel too crowded. The only drawback was the Internet connection in our room was very weak during certain times of the day.
There are 2 main pools onsite, both with swim up bars. The activity pool is just what it sounds. There is water volleyball, music, and entertainment staff organizing games and dancing all day long. The quiet pool is split in half with one half being just for Diamond Club guests. We hung out mostly at the Diamond Club pool where we were well taken care of by Yeremy and Franklin. Towels and chairs are included, floating gecko bali bed is not.
It is important to realize that the resort is not right on the beach. It actually sits behind the Royalton Punta Cana which is on the beach. For us, this was not a big deal since there was a trolley that ran back and forth all day between them and it was only a 10-15 minute walk from our room to the beach. Part of the walk was through a densely wooded area with birds and other wildlife and part of it was through the Royalton Punta Cana which is beautiful. There is an added bonus that the price of the rooms here typically are a little less than other resorts because of this, but you still have access to a great beach. There are food, drink and bathroom facilities available to you at the beach so as long as you don’t forget your favorite book or sunglasses in the room, you are good to go.
I mentioned before, there are a lot of things to do here. In addition to the pool and the beach there are 2 kids clubs. One for kids under 12 and another for teens. There is an arcade with a virtual reality section, an escape room, a casino at the Royalton PC, and nightly entertainment. For some entertainment options the 2 resorts share the theater at the Royalton PC. We saw dance acts, magicians, clowns, singers, DJ’s and more. There are also many excursions that pick up from the hotel which we will cover in another post.
The main feature here is the waterpark. We really enjoyed this. It never felt crowded to us partly because the waterpark is only for guests staying at the Royalton Splash or Royalton Punta Cana. They do not sell tickets to anyone staying outside of the resort. There are 7 different types of slides to go down, a wave pool, and an area for smaller children that has slides and a splash pad. There is also a small refreshment stand here and plenty of lifeguards to keep everyone safe.
We would definitely recommend the Royalton Splash for families. The price point is convenient, the property is beautiful and there are so many things to do. If you would like more information please check out one of the links below for our other videos, tours and reviews.
